Jams for #OneMillionStars Project

Jams for #OneMillionStars Project

Community Jams for #OneMillionStars Project

St Finbarr’s School in Ashgrove is joining the revolution to put a stop to violence and calling on the community to be part of their Star Weave Jams in support of the global ‘One Million Stars’ initiative.

The ‘One Million Stars to End Violence’ project aims to engage communities in a conversation about ending violence, and ultimately creating a show-stopping installation made up of one million stars, which will be displayed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Each star is a symbol of light, courage and solidarity and the final installation will be a collective statement against ending all forms of violence, and show how much can be achieved when we work together as a community.

St Finbarr’s aims to weave 1,000 stars before July, and is calling on the local community to join their ‘Star Weave Jams’ to be held at Arthur’s Green, Red Hill.

The school will provide all the materials and tools required, so ‘star weavers’ just need to turn up, join in the fun, and have the unique opportunity to be part of Commonwealth Games history.

No stars are too many, with any stars additional to the 1,000 required for the project destined for display at the school’s 14th annual Fashions on Parade event in August.

Children’s Therapy Centre – The Big Picture Luncheon

Mind Controlled Robotics

Children with disabilities embracing neuroscience

Are you ready for the big picture of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and big data? People with disabilities are already framing their futures with these technologies and you can too!

Australian of the Year Finalist Dr Jordan Nguyen has been confirmed as the celebrity speaker at The Big Picture Luncheon on 31 May 2017 hosted by the Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre.

An engaging communicator, with the ability to create instant connections with his audience, Dr Nguyen has keynoted at prestigious events such as Think Inc. and Wired for Wonder, where he shared the stage with influential people including Nolan Bushnell – the founder of Atari. He has presented at the world’s largest biomedical conference, the Engineering for Medicine and Biology Conference, where he advocated for advances in intelligent assistive robotics to harness the power of the mind and human biological signals to control technology.

Children’s Therapy Centre CEO Debbie Blumel said that the centre was proud to welcome Dr Nguyen as a game changing thinker. “Dr Nguyen thinks outside the box and will inspire us all to challenge the way we think and see the future.”

Ms Blumel said, “We believe that people of all ages will benefit from this event whether their interest is in the latest technology or if they are just passionate about people and social change like us.”
