George McArdle joined Little River Band (LRB) and over 3 years carved out his niche as one of the greatest bass players ever to come out of Australia. LRB was one of the most highly acclaimed rock music bands of all time and the first Australian group to make the top ten charts in the United States, achieving gold status. He underwent a profound spiritual conversion to Christianity and then chose to leave the band at arguably the pinnacle of its fame following his dramatic conversion.

Fire Relief Concert

Brisbane Rock Music is hosting a concert on the 7th of March to raise money for the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund. It starts at 10am and goes til 5:30pm. Entry is $10. Drinks and snacks will be available for sale on the day. 15 bands will be playing with styles ranging from Swing, Blues, Pop and Rock. It will be held at the Wynnum Municipal Hall, 219 Bay Terrace Wynnum. All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund.

Loose Parts Playgroup in the Park

Join us for our pilot Loose Parts Play Group in the Park on Wednesday the 11th of March from 9:30am to 10:15am.

This is not a workshop. This is informal, guided play with Anne Giacomantonio, our early childhood facilitator, who will help parents/carers safely explore the properties of our natural and industrial materials together with your children.

Our playgroup activities include imaginative and explorative play-based learning.

$12 per child (attending adults are free). Suitable for ages 1 to 5. All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer. Spots are limited to 8 children/toddlers. If you book 2 or more children, the price is reduced to $10 per child.

PLEASE NOTE
As a pilot program, we will be taking photos and will be asking you for your active feedback at the end of the playgroup.
In the event of poor weather, the playgroup will be moved to our warehouse at 20 Burke Street, Woolloongabba. We have 7 parking spots available on-site and a toilet facility equipped with a baby changing table.

Haven’s Big Top Mania Fundraiser

A Circus Themed Family Fundraiser to help raise funds for the Hill family, and their three-year old daughter who is battling Diamond Blackfan Anemia. A rare blood condition that only effects 800 people worldwide, Haven must have a blood transfusion every 3 weeks to stay alive. Haven also experienced a stroke in March 2018 which has left her battling hemiplegia dyskinetic cerebral palsy and a whole other host of complications. As the condition is so rare, a lot of the treatments aren’t government funded and leaves the family with a lot of out of pocket expenses. Moreover, even though Haven’s team of eight specialists at the Queensland Children’s Hospital are great, the real experts are in the United States and so we would love to be able to help her get the effective treatment she needs. With over 90 appointments last year alone, including four emergency admissions, this family remains positive, advocating for blood donations and has contributed towards saving 753 lives in 2019 through their Haven’s Hope Initiation.

We are hosting a family fundraiser with live music, entertainment, food trucks, sideshow alley, pie a pastor and a silent auction to help raise money for this deserving family. This evening will be a whole host of fun for the entire family for kids young and old. With just a gold coin donation entry, we hope to see you there for an incredible evening and to help this wonderful family.

Omega Writers Book Fair 2020

Omega Writers Book Fair is a rare opportunity to buy quality books ranging from children’s, young adult and adult, fiction, non-fiction and special needs, by local Christian authors.

There will be a Script Writing workshop with Simon Kennedy (co-creator of the mini-series Safe Harbour) and a Panel on Writing Disability and Difference with award-winning authors Kathy Hoopmann, Jenny Woolsey and Adele Jones.

Brissie to the Bay 2020

Queensland’s biggest cycling event is back! For the past 30-years, thousands of cyclers gather and ride to fight MS! It is an opportunity to spend time with family, friends or colleagues while supporting a great cause, to help thousands of Queenslanders living with MS.
