Roman Week – Kids Dig it!
It’s a Roman Revival at the Abbey!
Let your kids travel back in time this coming January MMXXII to Ancient Rome at the Abbey Museum.
There will be loads of fun activities on offer including Archery, Roman Legionary training, excavating a Roman dig, creating a mosaic image and making an edible Roman road! Also there are Roman games and crafts to explore and enjoy. Our programs are facilitated by experienced and knowledgeable instructors. We offer a fun, hands-on and safe learning environment for children. These programs are best suited for children between 5 and 12 years of age. However, there will be activities available for little Romans, aged 3 – 5 years, with parental assistance.
The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology is one of Moreton Bay Shires’ cultural gems. The Museum holds a remarkable collection of artefacts from around the world that children can explore and discover while participating in a Museum Treasure Hunt.
Art My Word
Art My Word is a book-based art challenge that fascinates and inspires. Artists have been challenged to create artworks inspired by a randomly assigned book, encouraging artists to push beyond their comfort zone.
Guests at this family-friendly exhibition will find an immersive experience. Guests of all ages will be familiar with many of the books and enjoy exploring the different artistic expressions.
One thing is for sure, they will need to allow time to wander the gallery as there is much to take in.
The exhibition is a short walk from the ferry on Macleay Island.
