Transition to Success Employment Expo
Peirson Services is bringing youth justice employees and business and employment representatives together to find innovative solutions in overcoming barriers to employment for young people engaged with the youth justice system.
Join us to explore…
How can we work together to overcome the complex problem of finding viable and sustainable employment opportunities for young people transitioning out of the youth justice system?
Why is this important?
The barriers in accessing training and employment for young people engaged with the youth justice system are complex and layered. From intergenerational unemployment, disengagement and trauma, uncertain living arrangements, to substance abuse, missed education and mental health issues. Given these experiences, young people find themselves on the fringes, unable to navigate a transition into training and employment as a turning point toward a brighter future.
Peirson Services recognises that a solution is possible and we need your help!
With so many different and specialised services available, young people and their families seeking support can find it difficult to access the resources they require. The resources are available and young people have a need, yet barriers still exist for young people to be placed into programmes appropriate for their situation. Navigating the complicated process of transitioning into training and employment is far too difficult without help. In order to address the problem of reoffence, young people need sustainable and personalised support when reintegrating into their communities and without a good support network that’s impossible.
Business owners are hesitant to engage with young people from this complex background due to concerns for their clients, their existing work force, and their ability to meet the needs of the young people seeking employment.
However, engaging with young people is absolutely worth the effort, and we want to show you how!
MS Brissie to the Bay
Queensland’s iconic charity bike ride is back! For over three decades, thousands of cyclists have gathered for the ride to fight MS. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with family, friends or colleagues while supporting a good cause, to help Queenslanders living with MS.
Choose from one of our five distances with astonishing views and a refreshment station. A 10km family-friendly track around the Brisbane Riverside, the scenic 25km ride to Balmoral, the classic 50km to Wynnum, the 100km ride to Wellington Point and Cleveland, or challenge yourself to the longest course 130 km ride out to the Bayside area.
More than 4,000 Queenslanders live with MS and each week 10 Australians are diagnosed with MS. The MS Brissie to the Bay exists solely to raise much needed funds to ensure no Queenslander faces MS alone. This year we are striving to raise over $1.1 million. Funds raised through the MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride directly support the delivery of vital services such as MS information, specialist nursing, and allied health programs.
So, what are you waiting for? Suit up in your lycra and wipe down your bicycle!
Sign up today at www.brissietothebay.com.au and help raise over $1.1 million to ensure no one has to face MS alone.
