Hometown Fest: Free Family-Friendly Festival

Hometown Fest is a free 2-day family-friendly music, arts and culture festival taking place at Brisbane Showgrounds Saturday and Sunday 23-24th November.
The event will feature 3 stages filled with local talent and live entertainment including performers from country, rock, pop, indie and punk rock genres.
There will also be free workshops for things like flower crowns and jewellery making being run throughout the day as well as a Kidzone with free face painting, petting zoo and children’s entertainers.
Other family-friendly features include a large shade structure and picnic areas, hydration stations and food trucks. There will also be a licensed bar available for the adults.
All day time events are free however you need to register for your free ticket in advance – you can do this via the Hometown Fest website or on Eventbrite. You can also find the full line up and performer schedule on the Hometown Fest website.

Summerfest 2019

Summer is set to sizzle with the return of Sunnybank Performing Arts Centre’s (SunPAC’s) FREE Summerfest on Saturday 30 November 2019.

The annual celebration of community and multiculturalism heralds the start of summer with a free program of music, live performances, entertainment and activities for all ages.

A star-studded outdoor concert begins at 5pm and will have the entire family rocking out when Play School favourite Jay Laga’aia and veteran performer Peter Combe take to the stage along with energetic children’s entertainers Stevie Nicholson and the SUPERDUDES.

Excerpts from the multiple award-winning production of The Owl and the Pussycat also feature, ahead of the full show’s SunPAC season in April 2020.

Rounding out the free concert program are Brisbane indie-pop singer-songwriter Noralyn and local funk, soul and R‘n’B quartet, Soul Cutz.

Summerfest kicks off at 10am with a music showcase by Harmonie Music and the fun continues across the afternoon when cultural groups and community organisations present a dazzling line-up of live performances in the SunPAC Theatre.

Outside there will be The Little Red Dumpling Festival, Food trucks, roving entertainers, pop-up activations and face-painting take place throughout the day until Summerfest culminates with a fireworks display at 7.30pm.

Summerfest is a free, all-inclusive community celebration that welcomes visitors from all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Food is available to purchase, or visitors can bring their own and enjoy a picnic while being entertained.

Advent Carols and Craft Festival – Wellington Point

The Anglican Parish of Waterloo Bay will hold a fabulous Twilight Advent Carols and Craft Festival on Saturday the 30th November 2019, from 4pm – 8pm at St James’ Church, 17 – 19 Station St, Wellington Point – right near the railway station. Lots of fun for all the family. More than 35 market stalls selling all kinds of Christmassy crafts and festive foods. Twilight wine and beer garden, entertainment throughout the afternoon with Puppetrix puppet shows and many local artists. Children’s activities and competition with Santa arriving at 7pm. In aid of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and the Ulysses Club Arthritis Research Fund (UCARF). The festivities start at Brassall Shopping Centre, 68 Hunter Street, Brassall.
Registration is from 8am.The Ride leaves at 10:30am and traverses the streets of Ipswich and finishes at the Ipswich Showgrounds. Cost is Free or $20.00 gets you Breakfast (8am to 9:30am), water, a patch or pin and a ticket in the perpetual draw.
