Coming from a violent, abusive background George resorted to alcohol, fighting, theft, spiritualism and rock music.
In 1976 he joined the Little River Band (LRB) and carved out his niche as one of the greatest bass players ever to come out of Australia and then underwent a profound spiritual conversion to Christianity. He chose to leave the band at the pinnacle of its worldwide fame following his dramatic conversion.
