Listeners who have trusted 96five to pray for them during Prayer4U month should be further encouraged by an organisation that has been praying non-stop since the turn of the century.
Established in England, 24-7 Prayer started with a gathering in a warehouse and grew in ways that its International Prayer Director Brian Heasley could not have imagined.
Brian told 96five’s Arthur Muhl that he was inspired by an evangelist who pointed out that every revival was born out of prayer. Brian also quoted W.S.Bowd who said: “Prayer is weakness leaning on omnipotence.”
“We only see lives changed when we pray,” said Brian whose own experience came while in custody as a young man when he read Isaiah 59:1.
Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear—Isaiah 59:1.
Brian also discovered by chance that people who had no church connection were open to prayer. That happened on the party island of Ibiza in the Mediterranean where 24-7 Prayer had gone to connect with the rich and famous and offer help.
“About 1000 people who would say they weren’t Christian, said yes to prayer!”
