Looking for a new podcast to sink your teeth and ears into over the holidays?
96five has teamed up with Scripture Union (SU) Australia on the new podcast series Chappy Chats. Hosted by chaplain Sarah Petchell, the podcast will show off the work of chaplains across a number of areas in the community, and tell the stories of those impacted by chaplaincy.
Some of the guests featured on season one of the podcast include military chaplain Cameron West, Chappy Beck Holloway, who is impacting primary students through the innovative use of her assistance dog Mr Rees, and cross cultural communication and engagement specialist Tim Fawssett.
Sarah Petchell has had a wide and varied career, as a chappy in schools and the Queensland Children’s Hospital, as well as serving as chaplain to the Queensland Reds Super W team.
Sarah has also served in the military, both with the Army Reserve and had a full time stint with the 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment. During her time in the ADF Sarah represented the forces in rugby union, and excelled in powerlifting, competing for Australia on three occasions at the World Championships and Commonwealth Championships.
In 2018 Sarah secured the gold medal in the women’s heavyweight powerlifting at the Sydney Invictus Games, as well as taking out a bronze medal for indoor rowing. She will co-captain the next Australian Invictus Games team who are set to compete in The Hague next year.
For the last few years, Sarah has been hosting the one minute version of Chappy Chats, as heard on 96five.
