Jesus said in John 14:6 – “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
When Jesus was making this statement, He was in the Upper Room, on the eve of the Passover, the final Passover in which ‘the Lamb that was slain from before the foundation of the world’ – would become the ultimate sacrifice for humanity.
There was no moment like this in the history of the world – and none to compare to it in its future.
AND – there was no Person more worthy to stand in this moment on behalf of God and Man.
Jesus was both Creator, and had become the Created.
He was both Son of God and Son of Man.
He was inside the Creation as both its Originator and its Representative.
No one was more qualified to represent the entire Creation – or speak for the Creation.
He was humankind’s perfect representative before the Father.
AND – He was about to declare something – as the Word of God – both about who God is – and also about who we are.

And His statement is profound. It is the blueprint, the roadmap, that will show all of humanity why He was the way of our being, the truth of our being and the life of our being.
In Jesus, the life of the Triune God flows into humanity.
And in Jesus, the life of humanity is lifted up into the unending, never to be broken circle, of the Trinity.
In Jesus we see the pattern for how we can participate fully in the divine life.
As we live out of this pattern, we experience a fullness of being that deeply shapes and satisfies our lived, human existence.
As we do, we get to experience the promise of Jesus in John 8:31 – we will know the truth and, in knowing the truth, we will experience God’s original design for our liberty and freedom in Him.
