The Chosen continues to inspire and impress audiences with its portrayal of the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of his closest followers.
George H. Xanthis (Open Slather, Syd2030) has had a front row seat and is still pleasantly surprised by the success of the show.
96five’s Ken and Nicky caught up with George who shared some of his favourite scenes to film and what his experience is like on set.
“I think there are some moments where the landscape helps us” George said.
“We’ve just got such incredible sets here in Utah that we use. We’ve got the little Capernaum that we’ve built in Texas.”
“The show started from such humble beginnings… because I’ve seen it being built step by step… I just take those moments to just appreciate where I am.”
George shared how he believes the show has changed the way people see Jesus.
“It’s someone we can see at eye level. We see him dancing with everybody after he turns water into wine. Just casually, but he’s dancing with all the disciples.”
And that’s a side of Jesus we’ve never seen. That’s the side that’s the Jesus we want to know.
“That’s the Jesus that we can relate to.” George H Xanthis – The Chosen
Season four filming is underway, and George said you can feel the tension in the air.
“This is legit ramping up. We’ve got Roman soldiers on one side, the Pharisees on the other. Yeah, this is dangerous.”
