Sunday Celebration host Alex Milne has been on the road, collecting stories about how God is using ordinary people to have a huge impact on the world.
Ken Mulligan is the Managing Director of Youth With a Mission Townsville, and also leads YWAM Medical & Training Ships (Australia and Papua New Guinea).
YWAM Medical Ships has been operating in Townsville for almost three decades, with an aim to care, connect, serve and build in communities across Australia and Papua New Guinea. YWAM Townsville has four key focus areas: training, medical ships, youth work and radio.
“We know that the fruits of Christianity are very good; God wants us to be proactive and to be relevant, but He also wants us connect deeply with people and show love in a way that’s very relevant to them” – Ken Mulligan.
Ken has been recognised widely for his more than 30 year service with YWAM, including Townsville Citizen of the Year (2008), an Order of Australia (OAM) Medal in 2013, and in 2017 was awarded on OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in acknowledgement of his services to the community and rural healthcare through YWAM Medical Ships.
He was also recognised in Papua New Guinea’s 2017 Queens Birthday Honours List for his commitment and service to the country.
You can listen to the podcast in the player above, where Ken shares some of his story, the challenges that he’s faced in life, and how YWAM Medical Ships are making a difference to the people of PNG.
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne awards Ken Mulligan with an OBE at Buckingham Palace (YWAM Medical Ships).
