Queensland non-profit social enterprises only have until tomorrow to apply for funding from the Queensland Government, with grants of up to $20,000 available.

Minister for Employment and Small Business Di Farmer said applications for the Community Social Enterprise Development Grants will close at 5pm on Thursday 1 July 2021.

“Eligible organisations should make sure to complete and submit their grant application, which can be for between $5,000 and $20,000,” Minister Farmer said.

“The Community Social Enterprise Development Grants are aimed at experienced operations that support disadvantaged jobseekers to increase their capability and capacity, whatever field they operate in.

“These grants can be spent on production or digital equipment, other resources or materials, website improvements, business support or marketing strategies.”

Minister Farmer said guidelines, FAQs and the application form for the Community Social Enterprise Development Grants are available online.

“Social enterprises deliver so many benefits to our communities and the economy, and that’s why we are delivering a range of grants and support to develop the sector,” Minister Farmer said.

“We are planning to launch information about the next grant program in July before opening the application window in August. Then we have two more great programs set to follow after that.

“These grants and the other work of the Social Enterprise Jobs Fund will build on the Queensland Social Enterprise Strategy, which set building capability, making connections and improving market access as three focus areas to foster a strong, vibrant and growing sector.

“There are some exciting operations and fantastic entrepreneurs in the social enterprise sector and supporting them now, means in the future they will help more customers and clients, employ more workers and deliver needed products and services for our economy.

“I am looking forward to announcing the successful Community Social Enterprise Development Grant recipients and excited to visit and see how this support makes a difference.”
