This Mother’s Day will see Brisbane streets turn pink as thousands get active for breast cancer research.

Over 1.5 million people have participated in the Mother’s Day Classic over the past 24 years, making it Australia’s largest fun run and walk for breast cancer research.

Now, in 2022, the landmark 25th anniversary of this wonderful event will pump more money into the fight against breast cancer, which is diagnosed in 55 Australians every day.

“After two challenging years, we are all set and excited to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mother’s Day Classic” said Zara Lawless, Mother’s Day Classic CEO.

“We encourage people to be part of this iconic community fun run and walk in one of 67 event locations nationwide.  It is a fun and inspiring way to spend Mother’s Day with your family and friends in major cities, metro areas and regional towns on Sunday, May 8.”

While the event raises much needed funds for cancer research, the event is also an opportunity to celebrate and honour the lives of those touched by breast cancer.

It’s also a great opportunity to connect with family and friends.

The Mother’s Day Classic has become a family tradition for Tammie and her girls, Eva and Ade. The 2022 event will be Tammie’s 15th – from her first Mother’s Day Classic running the course with her pram, to walking the course with her daughters and now Mother’s Day jogs complete with dress ups.

“My favourite MDC memories are simply the time I get to spend with my daughters and knowing that we are helping support the work of NBCF and breast cancer research, in just a small way, by being there and participating together” says Tammie.
