Tanya Hosch is the AFL General Manager of Inclusion and Social Policy. She is a Torres Strait Islander woman who is passionate about building a more inclusive culture for AFL players and fans.
There have been a few films in recent years that confront issues of racism in the AFL. Particularly The Final Quarter which put a spotlight on Adam Goodes’ experience. Tanya shared how the public discourse has improved awareness, and that policies are now in place for inappropriate behaviour.
“It’s hard to know whether we’re seeing less of it because often with awareness, you get more reporting, which is a positive sign. It tells us that there are a lot of people that go to the football that don’t want this behaviour to happen either,” – Tanya Hosch, AFL General Manager of Inclusion and Social Policy
