A star studded line up took to the Queen St Mall stage this morning to launch the Coffee Break Project including Ten’s Bill Mcdonald, Hailey Calvert, Andrew Lowden, Nat Dunn and our very own pooch, Romeo the Radio dog and his back up dancers!
The Coffee Break Project is encouraging people to give up coffee for the month of October, to raise awareness and funds for GROUP 61, devoted to fullness of life through friendship for mental health issues.
For many, the thought of giving up coffee is played out as a string of unbearable situations. BUT … What if your sacrifice meant something a little more than just a withdrawal headache?
The Coffee Break Project encourages the public to give up coffee throughout October to raise funds and awareness for mental illness, a largely unspoken but extremely important issue in our community. Mental illness affects 1 in 5 Australians at some stage in their lives. For most of us its just a coffee, but to some its a whole lot more. For mentally ill people in our community coffee and
conversation breaks the isolation.
