Introducing tweens2teen to the Brisbane airwaves – only on family’s number one – 96five!

Presented by Rachel Doherty, Tweens to Teen provides parents with plenty of ideas to make the better days outweigh the difficult ones!  We know that living and working with teens and tweens can be hard work! Rachel has more than 20 years experience as a social worker in this world, and also has her own collection of teenagers at home.

Here is some more information about Rachel.

You might be a parent, a teacher, a grandparent, a school support worker, a youth worker, a carer, a community worker… If you sometimes get stumped about life as a 10 to 20 year old, my mission is to give you some information and strategies to get around that and make your relationships with modern adolescents thrive.

I live in Brisbane, Australia, with my husband of 20 years and our three delightful teenagers.

Yes, they really are delightful! I would trade anything to be able to spend more time with them playing a board game, chatting as we share a family meal or exploring a corner of the world together for the first time.

Outside my bedroom window is a beautiful frangipani tree. During the cooler months, it’s just a bare collection of sticks and it’s really easy to look through it and not see it. But during the summer months, it’s the first thing I see every morning. The leaves are so green and the blossoms so white; it’s like a cluster of smiles welcoming me to the new day. Living and working with adolescents is much the same, some days can be pretty barren and others are full of hope and optimism. It’s my goal that through tweens2teen you’ll find plenty of ideas to make the better days outweigh the difficult ones.
