All this week 96five has been giving away tickets to see Paw Patrol: Race to the Rescue at the Entertainment Centre this Saturday.
But there was one family who needed a little bit of a pick me up after a really tough start to the year.
Two months ago, Joanne Mims’ stepson Maurice was on life support after being critically injured in a car accident at Kallangur. Five year old Maurice was in the front seat of a car that was involved in a head on collision and had to be revived by paramedics at the scene.
Maurice had a fractured skull, internal injuries, collapsed lungs and broken bones, and required seven hours of surgery following the accident.
Following a lengthy hospital stay, Maurice has only been home now for a week and Joanne told 96five’s Ken & Nicky that he had one thing on his mind when he arrived home.
“After four weeks he went into the rehabilitation ward and his first TV request was for Paw Patrol, but when he came home he just wanted to play with his Paw Patrol cars and his Paw Patrol helicopter.”
Joanne entered our Paw Patrol giveaway, but we thought that we could do a little extra for this brave family.
So thanks to our friends at Paw Patrol Live: Race to the Rescue, Stan and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre we sent Maurice off for a one on one, exclusive meet and greet with some of the pups!
His parents had said their goodbyes. Five-year-old Maurice Mims wasn’t expected to survive a car crash. But he’s not only living, today he lived out his dream, meeting @PawPatrol characters from the show he wanted to watch in hospital. @_MichelleJensen #7NEWS pic.twitter.com/up1SWi6gjN
